Diane To is a Hong Kong-based journalist and translator, with over a decade of professional experience. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Most recently, Diane served as Deputy Executive Producer for the Broadcast Solutions team at Thomson Reuters Hong Kong, where she helped to pilot, launch, and oversee (as well as regularly anchor) an English-language nightly news programme and weekly current affairs show.
She has a secondary career translating texts from Chinese to English, and has also worked in print; for example, creating a series of stories about extraordinary and inspiring Hongkongers for the South China Morning Post.
She is on the editorial board of Factcheck Lab, which aims to limit the spread of fake news within the Chinese-language community. She has moderated several conference panels on issues surrounding press and academic freedoms, and has been an invited speaker for journalism classes at various Hong Kong universities.
In the 2021 Spring semester, she worked as a senior researcher for the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), primarily on an eminent Kantian scholar's forthcoming book on the impact of German philosophy on contemporary scientific thought.
She has an MA in Ethics and Public Affairs (2019) from HKBU, from which she graduated with distinction and was the recipient of the Outstanding Student Scholarship award.
